BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, has launched a new agile certification programme for foundation and practitioner level.
The courses have been developed through working with industry to meet the demands of those utilising the software development method, and is designed to effectively ingrain agile practices within an organisation.
Adam Thilthorpe, director for professionalism at BCS said: "The introduction of the agile certification is a great addition to our already extensive portfolio. Agile has become an integral part of the way we do business and has made the transition from next practice to good practice."
The foundation course has been developed by Radtac for the BCS, whilst the practitioner level qualification was created in partnership with Emergn. Both are IT outsource firms which specialise in consultancy, delivery of systems and training.
"As an organisation, we are continuously exploring the new trends and business models that drive digital advantage," added Thilthorpe.
"Partnering with Emergn and Radtac has been a great opportunity to utilise their expertise and ensure we are delivering a rigorous certification scheme that exceeds the high expectations of our potential candidates.
"With IT professionals at the heart of business there is a growing demand for independent certification of their knowledge and capabilities. Our new certifications will enable agile specialists and those using agile in their everyday roles to achieve the grade of certification required for the areas they work in."
Jose Casal, director of Radtac Training, said: "The foundation certificate is aimed squarely at giving organisation wide understanding of agile methods. As agile becomes a tool to effectively change organisations there was a clear need for a course that brought rigour to the understanding of the whole subject rather than individual methods alone."
Alex Adamopoulos, CEO of Emergn, commented: "We are delighted to be partnering with BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, for the full launch of the agile certifications programme. These certifications provide the tools to manage real-life agile projects and bridge the gap between theory and practice."
