Deal: Samsung Galaxy S4 Active now down to £400

We don't really know why Carphone Warehouse slashed the price of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active smartphone from £520 to just under £400, SIM Free. The device is a fairly new model and has only been on the market for a couple of months, even more puzzling is the fact that, in theory, it is a premium model compared to the standard S4 as it is a fully waterproof model. The only real difference is the fact that it boosts an 8-megapixel camera rather than a 13-megapixel one.

As for the rest of the specification, it is fairly standard for what is essentially a high-end model. There's 4G functionality, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 SoC clocked at 1.9GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 5in Super AMOLED HD display with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, a front-facing camera, Android 4.2 and a slew of Samsung-only applications (including S Voice, Smart Alert, Smart Stay, S Beam etc).

The device is no longer the fastest in the market. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3GHz, currently rule the roost. You can read our review of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active smartphone here.
