Nearly 18 months after its launch, the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone remains a potent rival in the mainstream market if you manage to get it for a good outlay. It is currently on sale at Carphone Warehouse on a two-year contract without an upfront fee (or subsidies) for £17 per month on Vodafone. That's a total cost of ownership of £408, which is around a third more than the cost of the device itself.
The plan includes 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 100MB data allowance, making it ideal for low-usage customers. As for the Galaxy S3, it has been replaced by the helm by the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3. It comes with a quad-core system-on-chip, the Exynos 4412, clocked at 1.6GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a rear 8-megapixel camera, a 4.7in Super AMOLED display with a 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution and more.
The S3 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is the first Samsung handset to come with the S-series features like Smart alert, Smart Stay or S Beam. For more, read Samsung Galaxy S3 (S III) review here.
