We saw the Toshiba Satellite U830W Ultrabook at IFA last year on the company's booth and we were immediately struck by its 21:9 display, a feature that either attracts or distracts. Screens with 21:9 have always have a rather patchy history because they are often seen as being too wide.
Toshiba though chose it because it thought it was great for a laptop that can provide with a real Cinematic screen ratio. It runs on a third-generation Intel Core i5-3337U processor clocked at 1.8GHz with 3MB cache and a Turbo Boost speed of 2.7GHz.
There's also 6GB of RAM, 32GB onboard system SSD, a 500GB HDD, an Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU, a 14.4in display with a 1,792 x 768 display, Bluetooth 4.0, over five hours battery life, Windows 8, a webcam, Harman Kardon speakers, an Ethernet port, a card reader, HDMI and three USB ports as well as an array of Toshiba applications.
Toshiba presents the U840W as an Ultrabook with a thickness of less than 20mm and a weight of just under 1.7Kg.
