Deal: Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone for £38 per month with 6GB 4G data

Popular mobile retailer Phones4U sells the Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone for a mere £38 per month on a two-year contract with Vodafone. There is a £49 upfront fee which brings the total cost of ownership of the device to £961, which is more than £100 dearer than a recent Xperia Z Ultra deal we saw from Three.

However, this one is a 4G on and includes unlimited minutes and unlimited texts. Vodafone also topped it up with 6GB data allowance, one of the bigger ones outside the all-you-can-eat bundles.

The Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone was unveiled at IFA earlier this month and comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chip, the 800, which is clocked at 2.2GHz. It has 2GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a 5in display with a full HD resolution, a 20.7 meagpixel camera and is water proof as well.

Also, since this is a 4G bundle, Phones4U will throw in a free wireless speaker over and above the 90-days free Wi-Fi and more than £60 worth of content from Sony Entertainment Network. Check out our Sony Xperia Z1: Hands-on preview here.
