Sony is selling the Xperia Z for just over £368, a 14 per cent discount off its suggested retail price of £429. We are not aware when the promotion will end as the offer only appears when you check out. Note that other smartphones such as the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, do not seem to be part of the offer.
The Sony Xperia Z was the first truly competitive smartphone from the newly established Sony Mobile, its first with a quad-core system-on-chip and 4G functionality as well. It is also currently the cheapest smartphone on the market from a tier-one manufacturer with a full HD display.
The phone is unlocked and runs on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. Other features include 2GB of RAM, a 5in full HD display, a 13-megapixel camera with Exmor RS sensor, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, water resistant and dust proof, up to 11 hour battery and 16GB onboard memory.
The Sony Xperia Z1 replaced the Z as the top-of-the-range smartphone with a beefier SoC and a much more powerful SoC and a camera sensor with a higher pixel count. Whether it's worth an extra 50 per cent remains to be seen though. Read our review of the Sony Xperia Z smartphone here.
