Amazon just dropped the price of the Samsung Chromebook laptop by 17 per cent to just under £190 in what looks like an attempt to clear out existing stock. It is likely that the next Chromebook will be launched at the same time as the Google Nexus 5 which is expected to be launched within days with Android 4.4 Kit Kat.
This Chromebook is due an update as it was launched one year ago. It comes with a dual-core Samsung Exynos 5250 system-on-chip clocked at 1.7GHz with 2GB of RAM, 16GB hard disk drive and a 11.6in display with a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution.
Other than ChromeOS, it has a seven hour battery life, weighs 1.1Kg, Wi-Fi, 100GB Google Drive data for two years, two USB slots, a webcam and a fairly big multi-touch touchpad.
Note that you can get Acer's C7 Chromebook, which is Intel based and comes with a 320GB hard disk drive for around £40 less as a refurbished model. HP has also lined up its Pavilion 14 Chromebook for around £200, one which is powered by a Celeron 847 CPU. Check out Samsung Chromebook XE303C12 preview here.
