Acer is to hold a web seminar on 4 December on the subject of consumerization. The Taiwanese hardware and electronics multinational is inviting interested parties to join them for discussion of the latest IT trends.
The webinar will be held by Jakob Jersild Olsen, Acer's vice president and general manager of the Commercial Division for Europe, the Middle East And Africa. Olsen will look into the following aspects of the growing drive towards consumerization:
- To what extent consumerization is becoming the latest IT trend. Now employees want to go back and forth between personal and professional systems in both their home and work environments, both with ease of function and a level of security they can trust.
- How consumerization is changing the way companies manage their IT equipment. The emergence of consumer markets as the primary driver of information technology innovation has caused one of the greatest tectonic shifts since the beginnings of the IT industry. How are businesses working to make sure they don't fall behind?
- How bring your own device (BYOD) is changing the way employers and employees approach the workplace. With employees increasingly bringing their own smartphones and tablets into the workplace, how can enterprise adapt to stay abreast of the ever-shifting landscape?
At Acer's B2B launch event in Amsterdam last month, Olsen was bursting with ideas about where the world of IT business is headed.
"I think consumerization has been a buzz word for two or three years," he told us. "Maybe longer than that - but it's here already. Consumerisation is done. Our SMB customers are no longer looking for a four kilo chunky laptop for their office," said Olsen. "They want the same sleek notebook they have at home, and we want to offer them exactly that."
