O2 offers Xbox One bundle from 5 December

Consumers looking to get hands on a Microsoft Xbox One console this Christmas could be in luck with O2 offering it in a 65 stores as part of a lucrative mobile contract.

The mobile operator has announced that it will be bundling the console along with the Nokia Lumia 1020 as part of a 24-month contract that comes in at £52 per month as well as £99.99 upfront.

“With our new Xbox One and Nokia Lumia 1020 bundle customers will be getting one of the best consoles and one of the best camera phones in time for Christmas,” said David Johnson, General Manager Devices for O2 in the UK.“Our O2 Refresh tariff means all this technology can be cheaper than ever before, especially with O2 Recycle putting their old phone to good use too.”

The bundle, which will be available from 5 December, includes the Xbox One, FIFA 14, Kinect, 12 months Xbox Live Gold Membership and the Lumia 1020 smartphone with the contract including unlimited texts and minutes as well as 1GB of data.

It comes on the O2 Refresh tariff that allows users to upgrade the smartphone mid-contract and those that keep the phone after the 24 months is up will benefit from a discounted monthly contract.

A list of the 65 stores can be found here with O2 adding that stock will be limited across the country.

Bundling it with the Nokia Lumia 1020, complete with its 41-megapixel camera, gives owners the opportunity to take advantage of Xbox SmartGlass technology that turns the smartphone into a second screen that interacts with the Xbox One.

Microsoft released the Xbox One almost two weeks ago and the signs so far are that it’s losing out to its bitter rival the PlayStation 4 with the latter outselling it during its opening weekend.
