Fuelled by the buzz around its startup scene, London's Tech City has gone from strength to strength in 2013, and to round out another successful year on the Silicon Roundabout, 25 of the area's top influencers have been recognised.
Curated by local publication Tech City News, the list is led by entrepreneur and Level 39 head Eric van der Kleji, who has helped turn the Canary Wharf incubator space into one of the world's famous startup hubs.
Van der Kleji pipped 3beards co-founder and former Tech City Investment Organisation (TCIO) deputy CEO Benjamin Southworth to the top spot. Going forward, Southworth is understood to be planning to launch a new free school aimed at teaching young people coding skills.
Speaking of the TCIO, former CEO Rohan Silva also features among the Tech City elite. One of the key figures responsible for encouraging the government to be more proactive in its support of UK tech clusters, Silva is preparing to launch his first startup in 2014.
Other immediately recognisable names on the list include Google Campus lead Eze Vidra, Raspberry Pi founder Eben Upton, Digital Shoreditch's Kam Star, and Entrepreneur First co-founder Alice Bentick.
There's also a place of honour reserved for Alan Turing, the long deceased but eternally influential father of computer science, who also played a key role in turning the tide in World War Two.
