Asus will release 4in, 5in and 6in smart devices in 2014 if the company’s latest Consumer Electronics Show [CES] 2014 teaser video is to be believed.
The firm’s second CES 2014 teaser video is entitled ‘What’s your number?’ and features a series of balls raining down on the company’s home city of Taipei, Taiwan that are labelled with the numbers 4, 5 and 6.
It’s thought the numbers refer to the fact that Asus will reveal a line of smartphones in these three sizes at CES 2014 in Las Vegas and fits in with the company’s 2014 road map that includes new smartphones as well as a line of Chromebooks.
Device specifics are so far unknown and the only other rumours so far point to a 5in MEMOFone with CFO David Chang also earlier stating that he expects the company’s smartphone business to grow from one million to five million units in 2014.
Asus’ first CES 2014 preview video entitled ‘Green or Blue? One or Two?’ took place in New York City with the Statue of Liberty holding a convertible tablet in each hand and rumours already gathering pace that it will run both Android and Windows as a dual-boot device.
Asus has had a fruitful 2013 with its tablets, in particular, cutting into Apple’s market share with global sales of 3.5 million units in Q3 2013 handing it a 7.4 per cent share of the market, which was an increase from the 6.6 per cent it owned in Q3 2012.
The company has a pre-CES press event scheduled for 6 January in Las Vegas where Asus will reveal more on its exact plans for the coming 12 months before the conference itself, which runs from 7-10 January.
