Apigee has announced that it has added to its big data analytics repertoire with the acquisition of InsightsOne.
The API software specialists made the purchase to extend its big data analytics portfolio so that it can provide a platform that integrates the power of APIs with big data analytics to allow business leaders to prepare for and adapt to business changes in a timely manner.
"Success in today's mobile-first digital world requires a single vision that spans and connects business and technology," said Chet Kapoor, Apigee CEO. "In this new world, the business intelligence and context gleaned through the massive amount of big data available about customers, products, developers -- every part of a digital business -- must be tightly integrated with technology infrastructure to effect real change.”
InsightsOne will be offered as a stand-alone product before forming part of Apigee’s integrated digital business platform for mobile apps, digital analytics and APIs by the middle of this year.
As part of the deal InsightsOne CEO Waqar Hasan joins the Apigee executive team and was at pains to talk up the strength of predictive analytics when it comes to big data.
"Predictive is the 'killer app' for big data, and Apigee is the only company that delivers predictive analytics with API and app infrastructure in an integrated platform. InsightsOne is a natural fit for Apigee, expanding its big data analytics to make all customer interactions smarter and more effective,” Hasan added.
The financial terms of the deal were not announced and the only indication of the price was a report by Tech Crunch that highlights a $20.5 million [£12.4 million] equity transaction made in connection with the deal that didn’t represent the purchase price.
Apigee was formed in Silicon Valley in 2005 and has since expanded into Europe with a London office opening back in 2012.
