Egnyte and Synology have created a new partnership to provide companies with a hybrid cloud offering that combines Egnyte’s cloud offering with Synology’s network attached storage [NAS].
The product brings the two services under one roof and is designed to give companies a secure way to access files stored locally, offline or in the cloud.
“The cloud is not enough when it comes to sharing and storing business files, and this partnership is a testament to the unique power of our platform to enable the best combination of on-premise and cloud sharing capabilities,” stated Bart Giordano, senior director of business development at Egnyte, according to Cloud Pro.
Egnyte stated that companies can create and collaborate on files before syncing them securely to a Synology DiskStation NAS using Egnyte’s cloud. This, the two companies claim, is extremely helpful for employees in different locations as they will be able to work in unison “as if they’re in the same location.”
“The ability to share files through the cloud with the combination of Egnyte and ... Synology DiskStation NAS allows better network bandwidth and enables options for our customers to easily and securely share their business files both inside and outside of the office,” Jason Bonoan, product marketing manager at Synology, added.
Enterprise file-sharing startup Egnyte is backed by the likes of Google and Seagate with the last piece of news involving them seeing the company raise an extra $29.5 million [£18 million] in funding to let it continue with its global expansion plans.
It already has 40,000 customers worldwide with over 30 petabytes of data stored within the cloud and 20,000 on-site storage devices with the Synology tie-up only likely to add further customers to its base.
