First slated for an unveiling under the starry lights of Vegas at CES 2014, HTC's newest flagship phone has had more rumoured release dates than a Bruce Springsteen "Greatest Hits" album. The latest date to be plucked from the air, however, comes courtesy of renowned leakster @evleaks, who announced that we could see the HTC M8 as early as March.
He took to Twitter to write "Starting to look like a late March, NYC launch for HTC M8", sending the rumour mill churning that New York City will be the launch pad of the anticipated handset. This would make sense, as the Big Apple is quickly becoming the go-to destination for swanky smartphone launches.
Another tip courtesy of @evleaks indicates that the HTC M8 will break boundaries as the first HTC device to feature on-screen buttons. Until now, all of the Chinese company's smartphones have featured hardware buttons, but a picture supposedly showing the M8's navigation strip would suggest that they will now be purely touchscreen.
Rounding up his leaks to make a hat trick, the tipster also Tweeted that HTC is working on a mini version of the HTC M8. Whatever the case, most are agreeing that the HTC One's successor will feature a 5in full-HD screen alongside a Snapdragon 800 processor. It should also feature Android 4.4 KitKat, with the latest Sense 6 UI thrown in for good measure.
