Dell today introduced the new entry-level Precision M2800 mobile workstation.
The device is a 15in laptop with ISV-certified components and other professional-class features that make it a better choice for your graphics, engineering, scientific, or video production business than the high-end gaming or media laptop you may have been using for the past couple of years.
The M2800 mobile workstation is powered by a fourth-generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 2GB of AMD FirePro W4170M graphics, up to 16GB of memory, and up to 1TB of storage. The system's 15in screen comes in either HD or Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 resolution). Multiple monitor support is built in, and can be supplemented with a Dell E Family docking station.
ISV-certified applications include graphics and design stalwarts like Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor and Revit, Dassault Systèmes Solidworks, and PTC Creo. The laptop is also a good choice for heavy users of Adobe's Creative Suite programs like Illustrator and Photoshop. Essentially, any high-end performance program that results in billable hours and hard deadlines for a graphics, scientific, or engineering shop is a prime candidate for the M2800.
Like other Dell Precision workstations, the M2800 comes with Dell Precision Performance Optimizer, which automatically adjusts system settings in order to optimise system performance depending on which application you are using at the moment.
The Dell Precision M2800 fills out Dell's mobile workstation roster, which includes the Precision M3800, M4800, and M6800 mobile workstations. The Precision M2800 will be available through Dell's business channel sometime this spring 2014.
