The new HTC One (codenamed the M8) smartphone will be available to buy on the day it’s launched, namely 25 March.
We’ve known about the incoming flagship handset’s launch event since mid-February, but this is the first we’ve heard of the official on-sale date. Usually, of course, there’s a fair old gap between the unveiling and availability of a smartphone, but in this case, Carphone Warehouse has announced that it will have the next-gen HTC One available to buy on the day.
In fact, the retailer claims that it will be available at certain stores from around 16:00 on 25 March, mere minutes after the phone has been revealed at London and New York events (we’ll be covering the former, naturally).
Carphone Warehouse explains that the handsets will be shuttled hot from the launch venue to six of its stores in London (Westfield Stratford, Westfield White City, Oxford Circus, Centrepoint, Tottenham Court Road, and Carphone Warehouse at Selfridges).
So if you’re near those venues a week today, you can nip in, grab yourself a shiny new HTC One, and enjoy some of the planned launch events (with giveaways promised).
The handset will be available to order online shortly thereafter, and of course will make its way to Carphone Warehouse stores across the country.
A spokesperson for Carphone Warehouse commented: “The HTC One is an award winning handset that set the bar for design during 2013 and made many sit up and take notice – the new HTC One M8 is likely to continue that trend and will cement HTC’s future as a heavy-hitting smartphone manufacturer. We know how keen customers are to get hold of the latest tech as soon as possible and that is why we are so excited to be able to offer the new HTC One so quickly after it is unveiled.”
