All wasn’t well with EE’s network last night, as it suffered from some major downtime, and some unfortunate customers were left without service – although the issue has apparently been resolved now.
The network first had problems at around 19:00 or just before according to some users, with EE taking to its Twitter feed to post a picture of the movie Gremlins, along with a tweet that read: “There seems to be some Gremlins in the system – we're aware of a network outage at the moment & working hard to fix.”
The firm than apologised for any inconvenience, and at just gone 21:00, said it was working on fixing the issue. The problem was identified at just before 22:00 – though EE didn’t specify exactly what it was on its Twitter feed – and the network noted that service had been resumed for “many of those who were [affected],” and that “full service” would be resumed soon.
EE then tweeted: “We'd like to apologise for the inconvenience caused, thanks for your patience and for all your feedback!”
And it seems that was an end to the matter – though some folks on Twitter (#eeoutage) are still complaining they haven’t got service. If you still don’t have service, the advice is to restart your phone, and that should get things going again.
EE still hasn’t specified what the cause of the outage was.
