If you are into social media then you may well already be a user of Instagram. To those who have not yet explored its possibilities, let me say that you are missing a treat.
Instagram is all about sharing photos and video – but it is more than that. When you shoot you can apply different effects to enhance or alter your photos. Then you can share with individuals or groups via feeds. They share their photos too, of course, and so when you launch the app you can see their feeds. There's a facility to comment on what you see – this is a social platform, after all – and you can reach out more widely than your immediate circle of friends for content as well, searching for images on topics that interest you.
Don't worry about being locked into a platform – Instagram can share with Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr and Foursquare. It is the ease of use, ease of sharing and ease of searching that together make Instagram hugely popular – it boasts over 150 million users. The apps for iPhone, Android and Windows Phone have recently been updated (though the latter is still officially in beta), so there's never been a better time to give it a go.
