Fans of PlayStation 3 will rejoice at the news that Sony is remastering a couple of the console’s most popular titles for the next generation PlayStation 4 console this summer.
The Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto 5 will reportedly both get the upgrade treatment with the former already available to order on the Sony Entertainment Network.
Tech Radar reports that there is currently no confirmed release date for The Last of Us Remastered and only states that it is up for pre-order for $59.99 [£35.80] on the US version of the Sony Entertainment network. Xtralife, the Spanish retailer, adds that it’s likely to go on sale on 19 June and could persuade many to fork out the money for the console.
On the GTA V side of things, there’s industry chatter that it will be released for both the PS4 and Microsoft Xbox One later on this summer, and the manager of a reputable retailer confirmed this was the case.
TECH-NICK, the Twitter user that is manager of Germany’s Saturn.de, tweeted that it is expected to be released on both consoles in June alongside the PC version, though he did stress later on that it was simply a rumour.
Grand Theft Auto V was released by Rockstar Games in September 2013 and set the record for the highest number of sales in an opening day with $800 million [£477 million] worth. This was followed in the New Year by the news that it sold 32 million units worldwide – the most out of any game in 2013 – and it also managed to break seven Guinness World Records.
Talk of it coming to the PS4 and Xbox One have been floating ever since the two consoles were released just a couple of months after the game itself and it will give a boost to both sides of the next-gen console war.
