Nokia will soon be busting out the red cape in preparation for a new Windows Phone that will reportedly offer selfie lovers the same high-resolution lens as the HTC One M8.
The Nokia ‘Superman’ will be one of the first devices to come out since Microsoft acquired the Finnish company and sources close to the firm told The Verge that the smartphone will come with a 5-megapixel snapper on the front.
Superman will also have a 4.7in display with Nokia marketing the phone as a mid-range handset running Windows Phone 8.1 and the release date is expected to be some time before the end of the year.
Microsoft is also planning for two large scale updates for Windows Phone 8.1 over the course of the year with one scheduled to be released in July and the second update coming along with Superman later on in the year.
Having a 5-megapixel camera on the phone will match it up with the HTC One M8 top of the range smartphone that sports the high level lens as one of its headline features.
That won’t be all as there are expected to be a number of other Windows Phone 8.1-based handsets rolling off the combined Nokia-Microsoft conveyer belt as the year goes on. This includes the much anticipated debut of the “Goldfinger” smartphone that was delayed due to the lack of support for off-the-glass gestures that are an integral part of the smartphone.
Goldfinger remains at the testing stage, according to The Verge, and it’s being reported that a further two Windows Phone 8.1 devices will emerge alongside Goldfinger, if and when it is released.
Nokia’s mobile devices arm was bought by Microsoft late last year in a deal worth £3.2 billion and is part of Microsoft’s master plan to become a devices and services company.
