We all have things we'd like to be better at. I'm just about to start piano lessons, for example. I'm going to pay a local tutor, but there are other ways to learn things and gain skills, and your computer is a great source in this regard. Remember the Coursera app from a couple of weeks ago, for example? It links to free online courses. And Helpouts, which is a Google app, is another take on the same idea.
Helpouts connects you to video-based lessons made by people who know what they are doing. These people are rated by other app users, so you know what you are getting.
All this is linked in to Hangouts and Google+. If you download this app on an iPhone all the content is free. Take the Android route and you have access to a larger pool which includes a fair bit of charged-for teaching, but you can still get free stuff. I've yet to decide whether this model is any better than using YouTube videos or other methods of web-based learning – but it's certainly worth giving it a go.
