Mobile app of the day: PingTune Music Messenger

Music is an important part of many people's lives, and there are plenty of smartphone apps to take advantage of that fact. Some let you play music, find lyrics, or share your favourite tunes on social media – and PingTune is all about the sharing side of things. You like a tune, you share it.

Why would you do such a thing? Perhaps you've found a new artist you know will really appeal to a friend. Perhaps you are just soooo happy that you want to share a particular tune which encapsulates your feeling. Perhaps your sports team has an anthem and you want to use it to gee them up for a big match. Or it is someone's birthday? Or maybe you want to send a friend an encouraging musical message.

PingTune has been around for a while on iPhone, and it is a recent launch on Android. Whatever your platform preference, there's a new built-in messaging service that lets you reply to a musical message with, erm, more music. However, we must add a brief note about what you can share – this isn't about your own music. PingTune gets its music from YouTube and SoundCloud.
