Do you remember last year when Yahoo bought UK news aggregator startup Summly? The purchase made a British teenager rather wealthy. It took the better part of a year, but earlier in 2014 Yahoo finally launched its UK-specific news curation service Yahoo News Digest for iOS, and an Android version followed.
Digests are produced by aggregating news from a number of different sources, and they are hand-curated so you don't simply get a big splurge of information that doesn't make a lot of sense. If you want to get a bit geeky about it, Yahoo calls these different bits of sourced information 'atoms'. Atoms can be images, maps, videos, infographics, quotes and more.
Digests are sent to your handset twice a day so that you are not bombarded with information all the time, but rather can get up to date by reading at your convenience. The upshot is a relatively straightforward way to catch up with what's happening in the world, without having to work too hard to do so.
