There's been some more buzz on the Samsung S5 Prime front – the alleged premium version of the S5 which has previously been the subject of many leaks – but this time, the handset's moniker has been put forward as the Galaxy F.
This rumour comes from that well-known (and generally respected) source @evleaks (via Phone Arena), and the image that has been spilled shows an S5-like handset (complete with the heart rate sensor) with a brushed metal finish (see above).
Apparently the F in the name stands for Fashion, which makes some sort of sense in terms of the improved aesthetics of this version of the S5, though we're not exactly convinced.
The S5 Prime would definitely be more of an appealing name in terms of generating sales, at least in our opinion. However, we suppose by going with Galaxy F, Samsung would be distancing the handset from the S5 somewhat, and maybe the idea is to draw a definite line between the models (perhaps trying to partially avoid the wrath of S5 owners who might be annoyed that they didn't get a choice of an S5 or S5 Prime at launch – it's a totally different model, you see, honest!).
It's also worth noting that the S4 Zoom wasn't succeeded by the S5 Zoom this year, but rather the Galaxy K Zoom, so that may indicate a new direction with Samsung's handset naming conventions.
Current speculation has the Galaxy F coming with a 5.2in display with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, a Snapdragon 805 and 3GB of RAM – so it's certainly looking to be a fair step up, not just in terms of the build quality.
