The quest to find the world’s best tablet apps is edging ever closer after the Tabby Awards judging panel announced the final shortlists for the 2014 edition and a number of UK apps have made the cut.
An international panel completed by Entertainment Consumers Association [ECA] officials reviewed over 200 iPad and Android tablet entries from 20 countries and narrowed it down to 92 finalists across eight Android categories and 22 for the iPad.
Eight finalists made the final groupings from the UK and Ireland on both Android tablets and Apple’s iPad.
SwiftKey Keyboard has been nominated in the Android Personal Productivity category with Samurai Siege listed in the Action, Adventure, Simulation & Strategy game for Android category.
Two apps are nominated for the best iPad Magazine app in the shape of Future’s Computers Arts magazine and Smack’s TLQ periodical. Hargreaves Lansdown & Mubaloo’s HL Live for iPad app is nominated in the iPad Personal Finance app section, and Gneo by Keane and Able is listed in the iPad Personal Productivity category.
When it comes to iPad games Icycle: On Thin Ice makes the Action, Adventure, Arcade & Racing section, Feed Me Oil 2, meanwhile, is nominated in the Board, Casual, Puzzle & Word category, and Pacca’s Carousel made the Kids, Education & Family category cut.
Visitors to the site can vote in every category right now with voting closing on 25 July and the gongs will be handed out during the TabletBiz conference and expo in New York City on 6 November.
