HP simplifying big data through new backup, recovery and archive solutions

HP has launched a new range of backup, recovery and archive solutions that deal with the growing size of data present without making the whole process more difficult.

The improvements, which include those made to the HP StoreOnce Backup Family, are designed to keep data as secure as possible and simplify data centre backup both on premise and in the cloud.

HP StoreOnce Federated Catalyst, which works with StoreOnce Backup, allows customers to refresh backup infrastructures by enabling provisioning and management of multiple backup stores to a single, elastic pool of aggregated backup capacity that expands across multiple nodes.

The enhancements allow customers to improve efficiency with support for non-deduplicating data types, and increase flexibility and performance through deeper integration with HP Data Protector. HP StoreOnce Integrity Plus helps reduce risk and the HP StoreOnce Security Pack prevents unauthorised access to information via high level data encryption.

Improvements have also been made to the HP StoreEver ESL G3 Tape Library in order to allow customers to archive up to 268 TB/hours and a total of 75PB of data in one library. New features added to the StoreEver Storage portfolio include Data Verification software and High Availability Control Path and Data Path Failover to allow for uninterrupted data protection.

HP’s Converged Storage Portfolio comes with new features within the HP Data Protector 9 backup management software that makes it easier to manage multiple backup systems through a single intuitive dashboard. The management dashboard gives customers the chance to use adaptive intelligence, analytical reporting, rapid troubleshooting and the ability to predict capacity needs to forecast future investments.

The new HP AllianceOne Data Agile Partner Program has also been announced, which takes the form of a rich partner ecosystem with a consistent framework for software certification and solution promotion, and the founders include Symantec, CommVault and Veeam Software.

Both new StoreEver offerings as well as the BackUp Navigator and StoreOnce Security Pack are available now with a variety of pricing options and StoreOnce 6500, StoreOnce Federated Catalyst, and Data Protector 9.0 will be released in July.
